24/7 Emergency Veterinary Services in Haywards Heath
Oathall Vets is here 24/7 for all your pet emergencies. Whether you are registered with us or not, we are here to help you and your pet whatever the time and whatever the emergency.
Our vets and nurses are highly skilled and experienced to deal with every emergency, just like an A&E for pets.
We are open for pre-booked appointments and emergency appointments from 8am to 7pm weekdays and from 8.30am until 1pm on Saturdays.
After these hours we will always have a vet and a nurse available for emergency Out-of-Hours appointments. If you are worried about your pet, we will happily see you or provide advice.
We believe in fair and transparent pricing, and being independently owned we prioritise keeping our costs down to make emergency veterinary care as affordable as possible. We appreciate how distressing a pet emergency is, and we don’t want cost to be a barrier to getting the best possible care for your pet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I come to see you, even though my vet uses a different Out-of-Hours Vet?
Yes, we are here for community pet owners no matter who their daytime practice is. There is a surcharge for pets not registered with us and we will work with your existing veterinary practice.
How will you know my pet’s history if you are not my usual vet?
Just like in human A&E, in an emergency, we need to react quickly to the situation. Most owners know if their pets have any allergies or what medication they are on, and we ask you to bring their medication with you. We will also contact your usual vet as soon as possible to obtain your pet’s history.
How will you tell my usual vet what has happened?
We will email your pet’s clinical notes to your daytime practice once they are discharged and will liaise with them in greater detail if required.
I need a Vet now – how quickly will I get seen?
Just like a human A&E we will triage depending on the seriousness of the emergency. If your pet is critically ill, it will be prioritised above less life-threatening cases and seen more quickly. When you call, we will be able to give you an indication of how busy we are, and an estimation of how long you might have to wait.
Can I just ring for some emergency vet advice?
Yes – that is why we are here, if you are unsure what to do, just call us for advice, reassurance, and peace of mind.
What if I can’t afford your emergency vet fees?
We strongly encourage all pet owners to think ahead and put money aside regularly for unexpected situations like a pet health emergency. If you are struggling, we will always prioritise animal welfare over profits and will offer your pet basic first aid and pain relief and come to an arrangement with regards to payment.
Do you do emergency house visits?
We, and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons encourage all pet owners to consider how they would transport their pet in an emergency and to know where they would be going. Consider using your own transport, a family member, friend or neighbour’s transport, an animal ambulance or a taxi service that will transport animals.
In all but exceptional circumstances, the interests of companion animals will be best served by being taken to a veterinary practice, where the attending veterinary surgeon has access to a full range of equipment, veterinary medicines, and appropriate facilities. If necessary, please call us to discuss the options and make a plan.
Will my insurance cover the cost of emergency treatment?
Provided you are up-to-date with your payments, the most reputable pet insurance policies will cover the cost of emergency treatment. You would need to check your policy to be 100% sure.
