Vomiting in pets can range from a minor upset to a sign of something more serious. At Oathall Vets, we’re here to help you know when to be concerned and what to do next.

Is It an Emergency?

If your pet is vomiting persistently, brings up blood, seems lethargic, or can’t keep water down, it may be a medical emergency. Please contact us for advice as soon as possible.

Causes of Vomiting Can Include:

  • Dietary indiscretion (eating something they shouldn’t)
  • Infections or parasites
  • Foreign object ingestion
  • Toxins or poisons
  • Pancreatitis or other digestive issues
  • Underlying illnesses (e.g. kidney or liver disease)

What to Look Out For:

  • Vomiting more than once or twice
  • Lethargy, drooling, or signs of abdominal pain
  • Blood in vomit
  • Not drinking or eating for over 12–24 hours

What You Can Do:

  • Remove food for a few hours but offer small amounts of water.
  • Monitor for worsening symptoms.
  • Don’t give human medications or attempt home remedies.
  • Contact Oathall Vets for guidance on whether a visit is needed.

We’re Here to Help

Our vets can quickly assess the cause of vomiting and begin any necessary treatment — whether it’s fluids, anti-nausea medication, or further diagnostics. Don’t wait if you’re unsure.

Call Oathall Vets if your pet is vomiting and you’re concerned. Early treatment makes a big difference.
