Neutering Your Cat

If you are not intending to breed your cat, Oathall recommends neutering — whether they live indoors or go outside. It prevents unwanted litters, reduces certain health risks, and helps manage behaviour. At Oathall Vets, we offer safe, professional neutering and friendly, personalised advice.

Why Neuter Your Cat?

  • Prevents unplanned pregnancies
  • Reduces spraying, yowling, and wandering
  • Lessens risk of fighting and feline diseases (FeLV, FIV)
  • Helps indoor cats settle more calmly

When to Neuter

  • Both males and females: Around 4–6 months of age is ideal, but adult cats can also be neutered at any time.

What’s Involved?

  • Males: A quick procedure to remove the testicles.
  • Females: A slightly longer surgery to remove the ovaries and/or uterus.

Recovery is usually fast, especially for younger cats.
