Are Human Painkillers Safe for Pets?

Rabbits benefit greatly from neutering — both physically and emotionally. Whether your rabbit lives alone or with a companion, neutering helps avoid health problems and allows them to live safely with other rabbits. At Oathall Vets, we offer rabbit-safe anaesthesia and experienced nursing care.

Why Neuter Rabbits?

  • Females: Prevents uterine cancer (which affects over 60% of unneutered does by age 4), and helps reduce aggression or nesting behaviour.
  • Males: Reduces spraying, mounting, and hormonal aggression.
  • Allows safe bonding with another rabbit (unneutered pairs often fight)
  • Prevents unwanted litters — rabbits can reproduce very quickly!

When to Neuter

  • Females: From around 4–6 months old
  • Males: From 3–4 months, once the testicles have descended

Our vets will advise based on your rabbit’s size and health.
